Meet our Burundian beneficiary: YBSP

At Ozonya Handmade, our mission goes beyond design — we aim to empower communities and support grassroots change. That’s why we’re honored to partner with YBSP (Youth Building in Synergy to Fight Poverty), a Burundi-based NGO making a lasting impact through youth empowerment, environmental action, and women-led development.

Their mission 

YBSP is a local organization in Burundi that focuses on youth empowerment, environmental sustainability, peacebuilding, and women’s economic development. Their holistic programs include:

• Education for all
• Feed a child (Sunday Meal)
• Vocational and leadership programs for women and girls (DUTEGURE KAZOZA)

Their vision is to build a future where young people and women can lift their communities out of poverty through knowledge, action, and opportunity.

Why We Chose Them

Our partnership with YBSP was born out of connection and trust. A close Burundian friend — who has personally volunteered with the organization — introduced us to their work. We were deeply inspired by their strong focus on feeding children and empowering women, values that lie at the heart of Ozonya Handmade.

Whether it’s through leadership training or small business support, YBSP creates opportunities for Burundian women to thrive — and that’s something we proudly stand behind.

How We Support Them

Current initiatives

At Ozonya Handmade, we believe that fashion can also do good. That’s why 10% of all profits from our ‘Burundian Harmony’ collection are donated directly to support YBSP women empowerment programs. This initiative is on going, which means that if today you purchase an item from this collection, you will contribute to the yearly donation we make to YBSP.  

Passed initiatives 

In 2024, we hosted our second "Paint & Drink" fundraising event, bringing our community together to raise funds for their impactful programs. We had 12 participants who were eager to improve their painting skills while doing something meaningful.

100% of the benefits from this event were donated to YBSP.
